The Baie des Chaleurs Auto Rally, the story !

Automobile Rally in a dream environment.

These are the words that would best describe the Baie des Chaleurs North American Rally...

More than 32 years ago, hardcore race fans were organizing the first performance rally in the Baie des Chaleurs, on the southern coast of the Gaspe peninsula, in eastern Quebec.

Back then, the  Datsun 510, Toyota Celica and Triumph TR7 were fighting for the honor to win the "Baie-des-Chaleurs". Today, the cars have really changed.  Mitsubishi Lancer, Subaru Imprezas and Volkswagen Golf are the ones squaring it off, over the 200 kms or so of this course, Ontario Performance Rally Championship AND North America's performance rally championship.

In January 2007, CARS celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Canadian Rally Championship. During this grand ceremony, the special prize Pole-Position Magazine given for excellence in Canadian automotive sports events organisation, was awarded to North American Rally of the Baie-des-Chaleurs. “The Rallye Baie-des-Chaleurs is not only an event on the North American and Canadian Championship cup calendar for the last 30 years; it is also an event that symbolises the spirit of what automotive racing should be: a show, a difficult event to win and a festive atmosphere. For the media, the spectators and the teams, it is an exceptional event”.
